Fiscal Year 2008 Urban Areas Security Initiative—Nonprofit Security Grant Program
The purpose of this grant program is to provide funding support for target hardening activities to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations located within specific high-threat, high-density urban areas (the National Capital Region) and are determined to be at high risk of international terrorist attack.
Grant funding may only be used for the following: (1) target hardening, which includes the acquisition and installation of security equipment on real property (including buildings and improvements) owned or leased by an eligible nonprofit organization, specifically in prevention of and/or protection against the risk of a terrorist attack, or (2) security-related training courses and programs.
Allowable training related costs under fiscal year 2008 UASI NSGP are limited to attendance fees for the training, and related expenses, such as materials, supplies, and/or equipment. Please note: the maximum grant award is $75,000 per nonprofit organization and they must agree to 75 percent federal / 25 percent grantee sharing of project expense. This cost match may be met in cash or through equivalent, related training.
Eligible applicants are limited to nonprofit organizations having current IRS approval as an IRC Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status organization and located within the National Capital Region, defined as the District of Columbia; counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s (MD); counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Loudon and the City of Alexandria (VA); and all other units of government within the geographic areas of such District, counties, and city.
